Dr Arup Roy Choudhury

Dr Arup Roy Choudhury joined NTPC as CMD in September, 2010, and since then the company has achieved several commendable milestones, which include capacity addition of 12,315 MW, which is 27.6 per cent of the total capacity added in the last 39 years i.e. 44,598 MW. While NTPC took 10 years to build its first 10,000 MW capacity, 11 years to build the next 10,000 MW, 7 years to build the third block of 10,000 MW capacity, the last 10,000 MW has been added in a span of only four years. Meanwhile, NTPC´s foray into Hydro yielded results with the commissioning of two units at Koldam (2 Units of 200 MW each in March and another 200 MW in April, 2015). In addition to his contributions as CMD of NBCC and NTPC, Dr Choudhury led the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) - the apex forum of over 200 Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) - for two consecutive terms of two years each (from April 2009 to March 2013), as its Chairman.

Sutirtha Bhattacharya, assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the coal mining monolith Coal India Limited on January 5, 2015. Prior to this he was CMD of the Telangana based Singareni Collieries Company Limited since May 10, 2012. Prioritising his immediate goals, Bhattacharya´s main focus was´ ramping up coal production and importantly increasing coal supplies. He pursued the setting up of three important railway lines in Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Odisha, which would help in unlocking huge coal reserves and increasing coal supplies.
A Physics graduate from Presidency College in Kolkata, Bhattacharya has vast and varied experience across different government sectors and positions. He was Collector and District Magistrate of Prakasham district. As Principal Secretary (Energy), Government of Andra Pradesh, Bhattacharya´s prime concern was to ensure quality power supply at reasonable price to all consumers in the state.

K Vijayanand, is an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Andhra Pradesh Cadre, who was posted as the Assistant Collector for Adilabad district in 1992. With Vijayanand as its Managing Director and Director, APGENCO won ´The India Power Award - Overall Utility Performance Generation´ award in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012; the ´Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) 93rd Annual Function Excellence Award 2009-10´ - Excellence in Industrial Productivity award and the ´National Award For Meritorious Performance´ - Thermal Power Stations Performance award (Dr Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station) from Sushilkumar Shinde in 2010. For his excellence, Vijayanand received 'CEO of the Year (State Thermal) 2013' award from N Kiran Kumar Reddy on November 22, 2013.
