Govt to import 250 mw power from Indian PTC
The government will import 250 megawatt (mw) of power from Indian PTC (formerly known as Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd) company at a rate of Tk 6.34 per unit. The decision of procuring the power was approved on July 28 at a meeting of the cabinet committee on public purchase. PTC India will supply the power within next 3 years, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Nurul Karim said.
The purchase committee also approved 14 other proposals which include two for the Ministry of Housing and Public Works (MoHPW), one for the local government division, two for the power division and nine for the energy and mineral resources division. Under the MoHPW the committee approved construction of 1,020 flats in F block of Mohammadpur area for low-income people at a cost of Tk 866 million.
National Development Pvt Ltd, Desh Unnayan and GBB and Alam Constrction will build a total of 60 buildings for the project. The meeting also approved the enhanced cost of Tk 85 million for the Independence Monument from the previous cost worth Tk 1.37 billion to construct the glass tower. The meeting also approved the premium for import of fuel from different countries.
