It has thrown up some unseemly winners in the Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Ltd (JKSPDCL) and GMR Energy, which were adjudged as Highest Growth Generation Company in Hydro in Public Sector and Highest Growth Generation Company in Coal/Gas/Nuclear in Private Sector, respectively. ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd and Renew Power have been identified as the emerging leaders in the surging renewable segment in India - in solar and wind segments respectively, to be precise.
Adani Power is a behemoth in the making in the private sector - expanding their portfolio across segments. Industry giant Tata Power leads with two awards to its credit, while the start-up Solar Town Energy wins in innovation category, thus showcasing the extreme ends of the chain. State Bank of India romps home, as the financial institution rendering highest financial assistance to the power sector. BHEL, KEC and Vestas emerged as the champions in power gear sales in different segments. Among the private distribution companies (discoms), CESC and Tata Power Mumbai have made their mark; while among the states and utilities Gujarat and its utilities stole a march over others.
Sterlite Power Transmission has emerged as a dark horse in the private transmission arena. Last but not the least, the inevitable and consistent appearance of the government gems in the chart like NTPC, CIL and PowerGrid continued in this league table too.
Highest Growth Generation Companies Category: We have selected companies which have added the highest installed capacity in 2015-16 as compared to 2014-15. Most Innovative Power Companies Category: We have selected companies which have undertaken some unique innovation in 2015-16, which has either improved efficiency, brought down the commissioning time or has undertaken some project on a scale never thought before.
Best Selling Power Equipment Companies Category: We have selected companies which have seen significant increase in Revenue from Operations in 2015-16, compared to 2014-15.
The Best Performing State in Power Reforms: As per State Distribution Utilities Fourth Annual Integrated Rating Report in June 2016 by Ministry of Power, Regulatory reforms and Government support were given 20 per cent weightage, and as per the report Gujarat was given the top rating.
Financial Institution with highest support to power sector: We have selected a bank which continues to have high exposure to power sector.
