What are products and services and how do they cater to the power sector?
Power Mech Industries is so oriented that it is able to provide and facilitate service to thermal and hydro power plants. The facility is also extendable to cover the 'renewable energy' sector which is likely to be the future of the nation. PMI can cater to the indigenisation of heavy fabricated and machined components for all equipments, keeping quality standards and durability. The workshop has the built-in capability to develop spares for coal mills, CSP handling systems, turbine non-critical parts, high pressure valves, pumps, fans, etc. There is facility for repairing and restoration of steam and hydro turbines systems, all kinds of wear and tear parts and high erosion parts and boiler systems.
What are your future plans?
As said earlier, the workshop will equip itself to cater to the needs of solar power (renewable energy) in getting some of the hard-ware components fabricated and manufactured. India is poised to introduce FGD units in all the thermal power plants. We are contemplating on manufacturing non-critical components of FGD units and especially retrofitting.
We aim to support power plants, especially with Chinese make units in operation. These power plants are experiencing planned and unplanned shut downs of units causing huge investments on stacking of large quantity and variety of inventory. The present financial situation is not comfortable to the plant owners for allocating huge funds on this head. Some of the spares may have long stocking period in the stores before being put into use.
We intend to bridge the gap substantially by indigenisation of spares with 100 per cent interchangeability and adopting 'repair and use' concept. This would bring down the operational cost of the plant while at the same time optimising the plant outputs.
We plan to keep stock of raw materials duly identified by the OEM and also finished parts ready for use. We will identify components that are repeatedly required by the customers and keep stock of same for Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery. This will ensure huge cost reduction for individual plants in a big way. The information on the spares and their stock position can be shared with interested customers for linkage and advantage.
Quality & Guarantee
We receive direct support, guidance and technical advice from the OEM. Therefore maintaining quality at international standards is a possibility on priority. As OEM are involved during manufacturing, they stand guarantee for material and workmanship.
The very fact that the spares are manufactured in India has the potential of cutting the cost to a great extent. The components that contribute to escalation of price such as import duties, marine transport etc., will be eliminated and the benefit will definitely be passed on to the customers. Even now, some end users have indigenised many parts with the support of reputed workshop, but as piece meal attempts. But again there is no guarantee for 100 per cent quality, safety and delivery. This could be achieved by reverse engineering with the active involvement of technical experts in the field of operation and maintenance. The success rate for such reverse engineering process may not be high. It will push the cost of the parts and increase the downtime of units with direct and indirect operational costs. Hence, end users can launch for a systematic reverse engineering with us, where our experts would take all the necessary technical inputs with our engineering team equipped with high resolution portable CMM and digitalised metallurgy sensing equipments.
