Subsidies to gas-based power plants flayed
CPI (M) politburo member BV.Raghvulu took strong objection to Andra Pradesh's decision to extend subsidies to the tune of Rs.1,200 crores to gas-based private power plants, which had incurred losses owing to non-availability of gas.
Speaking at the State plenary of the party in Rajahmundry, Raghavulu asked when Anganwadi and Asha workers were not getting a single meal a day, as they were denied wages for up to eight months, how the government could give away crores of rupees in subsidies to corporate companies. He alleged that the Chief Minister was anti-poor and anti-tribal, as his government had passed GO.97 allowing mafias to mine bauxite in Visakha agency areas.
