'Chinese solar PV firms are seeking Indian partners'
Chairman of Titan Energy System, Rao SYS Chodagam has said that Chinese solar photovoltaic module producers are scouting for partners in India to use the local manufacturing capability to serve the global markets. With several countries seeking to levy anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar PV products, their efforts to seek Indian manufacturing partners is aimed at addressing the global requirements, he said.
Rao said that the company has been approached by a couple of Chinese companies offering to be partners and help mutually grow business. This is because, they are not able to sell their products globally due to curbs and see this as a mutually beneficial approach. There has been an ongoing probe into the dumping related issues since November 2012. This was taken up as domestic manufacturers are faced with tough times unable to sell what they produce while import modules proliferate.
On the company's business plans, he said they are in the process of negotiations to set up a 50-mw solar PV farm in the State as an EPC contractor and a supplier of modules.
