MCL moots coal corridor in Talcher to check pollution
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has decided to construct a separate corridor for road transport of coal in Talcher with an aim to prevent excessive pollution and road congestion in residential areas.
The 12 km-long road, proposed for coal transportation, has the approval of the company and will replace the existing road which has been damaged due to regular movement of coal carrying trucks. It will measure 10.5 metres by 15 metres and will pass through non-residential mining areas affecting none, said a top official of MCL at Talcher.
However, the plan will get financial approval only after all formalities, like inviting tenders take place.
