Jindal Power gets green clearance for Chhattisgarh plant

Jindal Power has got the environmental clearance for construction of the 2,400 MW expansion project at Tamnar, Chhattisgarh, from the state environment authority.

In a statement the company said that the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board has granted consent to establish the 2,400 MW expansion project and that the clearance will end the wait for the implementation of the project. The statement also said that "Due to the unreasonable delays in getting environmental clearances, the project has been delayed for over one and a half years." The company currently operates 1,000 MW at the site. Early this year, the company had got the clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the 2,400 MW project in two phases.
