ABB India will provide solar inverters to 750 railway stations in northern India - one of the most used railway corridors in the world , carrying more than 8 billion passengers annually - to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources. Tropical north India is blessed with 300 sunny days, and solar is a natural alternative to conventional electricity. Sanjeev Sharma, Managing Director, ABB India said, “We are privileged to partner with Azure Power to support IR’s renewable energy drive. Providing the latest technology to drive energy revolution in sectors like transportation is a part of ABB's next level strategy.”
Inverters for this project vary between 5-50 kW in performance depending on the size of the station, as part of the ABB AbilityTM of connected solutions, the customer can ensure uptime through remote management services. They will be part of the solar installations being set up by Azure Power. “We are pleased to partner with ABB and Indian Railways in reducing GHG emissions through deployment of solar energy at railway stations across India,” said Inderpreet S Wadhwa, Chairman and CEO, Azure Power.
