The landed price of imported solar panel in India crashed to $0.36/Wp in three months owing to global supply glut and falling prices of polysilicon in China, a report by Bridge to India. The agency expects the supply glut is likely to continue for a year and possibly longer as China is unlikely to grow out this trouble. ´Indian project developers will see major windfall but notwithstanding major government thrust on domestic manufacturing, it will be difficult to attract large investments in an industry that has seen two major global supply gluts in the past five years,´ said the report. Indian developers would reap benefits of this price fall.
