As part of its endeavour to create greater awareness about clean and green wind turbine power, Gamesa Wind Turbines, joined hands with the National Service Scheme of University (NSSU) of Madras to organise a public rally in Chennai. The rally was organised on the Marina Beach which started from the Gandhi Statue and culminated at Kannagi statue on the arterial Kamarajar Salai.The rally was flagged off by C Sylendra Babu, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Chennai, in the presence of Dr G Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras and Ramesh Kymal, CMD, Gamesa.In a related development, the company announced the launch of its new G-97, 2.0 MW wind turbine in India, which was unveiled by Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, along with Ramesh Kymal, CMD, Gamesa India in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The new turbine has been especially designed for low-wind sites and the company expects such sites to drive a major portion of demand in the 2.0 MW category.Ramesh Kymal, CMD, Gamesa India, said, “The wind energy sector in India is rapidly expanding and shifting focus to moderate and low wind sites.
