Greenko with US parentage and Gamesa have edged out some well-established players to become the emerging leaders in the surging renewable segment in India - in solar and wind segments respectively, to be precise.
Mahagenco, Israeli company, Ecoppia, and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company, have emerged as the most innovative companies by pioneering the National Award-winning Ash Management Policy in the country; bringing in robots to clean up solar PV panels, and implementing Management Operator Model respectively. State Bank of India (SBI) retains its position as the financial institution rendering highest financial assistance to the power sector. L&T and KEC International have bagged rankings in power gear sales in conventional generation and transmission and distribution, while Trina Solar proved to be a dark horse in renewable power gear sales this year. Among distribution companies (discoms) DGVCL from Gujarat from the state sector and CESE from the private sector emerged winners, while Karnataka stole a march over others in overall performance under UDAY.
Sterlite Power Transmission retained its position as the company with highest growth in network creation in the private transmission arena. Last but not the least, the inevitable and consistent appearance of the government gems in the chart like NTPC, CIL and PowerGrid continued in this league table too.
For the Highest Growth Generation Companies Category, we have selected companies which have added the highest installed capacity in 2016-17 as compared to 2015-16. Most Innovative Power Companies Category: We have selected companies which have undertaken some unique innovation in 2016-17, which has either introduced a unique policy, improved efficiency, brought down the commissioning time or has undertaken some project on a scale never thought before.
Best Selling Power Equipment Companies Category: We have selected companies which have seen significant increase in Revenue from Operations in 2016-17, compared to 2015-16.
The Best Performing State in Power Reforms: As per State Distribution Utilities Fifth Annual Integrated Rating Report of the Ministry of Power, where states are ranked based on their overall performance under UDAY - Karnataka has bagged top rating. Financial Institution with highest support to power sector: We have selected a bank which continues to have high exposure to the power sector.
