No Green clearance to Coal India´s Odisha washery

A high-level panel has deferred green clearance to Coal India´s 10 mtpa washery in Odisha. The state-owned company plans to set up 15 washeries by next year. The proposal was for grant of environment clearance to Jagannath washery in village Hensmul, district Talcher, Odisha.

Coal India (CIL) has revised and rationalised the price of non-coking coal for all its subsidiary companies including North Eastern Coalfields (NEC) and the Non Linked Washery (NLW) coal of BCCL from May 28 of this year. The Surface Transportation Charges (STC) have also been revised from last November 14.

Country in dire need of coal washeries

A Parliamentary panel has said that not even a single coal washery of the proposed 20 to be built with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore has come up so far and wants Coal India (CIL) to work on 'war footing' for their early commissioning.
