The foundation stone of NTPC`s 2640 MW Bundelkhand Super Thermal Power Project has been laid by Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State of Power (I/C) at Barethi, Chattarpur District of Madhya Pradesh. Comprising 4 units of 660 MW each and with environment friendly super critical technology, the project is expected to contribute significantly to the economic and social development of the region. The Union government is closely monitoring the power projects under construction to avoid delays, said the Union Minister of State (I/C) of Power Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Lok Sabha recently. Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is performing the duties of monitoring of the power projects in pursuance of 73 (f) of Electricity Act, 2003.

Power Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia has said that private sector investment in Power sector has declined considerably to Rs 54,953 in the last financial year from Rs 98,283 crore a year ago. The decrease in investment is to the tune of 44%.
