The foundation stone of NTPC`s 2640 MW Bundelkhand Super Thermal Power Project has been laid by Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State of Power (I/C) at Barethi, Chattarpur District of Madhya Pradesh. The Union government is closely monitoring the power projects under construction to avoid delays, said the Union Minister of State (I/C) of Power Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Lok Sabha recently. Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is performing the duties of monitoring of the power projects in pursuance of 73 (f) of Electricity Act, 2003.

88,537 MW new power generation capacity targeted during 2012-17
