The Coal Ministry has written to the Coal Controller to collect additional levy from the owners of operational coal blocks which had been de-allocated by the Supreme Court on September 24.
The court had imposed a levy on those mines which were operating and will continue to be in operation till March 31, 2015, when the de-allocation becomes effective. Though the Ministry has not given any estimates, the levy is expected to fetch about Rs 10,500 crore.
