Union power ministry plans to implement over Rs 6,900 crore worth transmission lines and strengthening network project that would benefit several states.
The project would connect power generation projects in states like Bihar, Rajasthan Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and HP with national grid.
For this purpose, the ministry asked Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation to invite global tariff bids.
The project involves eight transmission lines worth Rs 3,000 cr besides Rs 3,900-cr worth transmission projects.
It is learnt that firms like Power Grid Corp, Tata Power, Lanco Infra, L&T Transco, GMR Energy, Gammon India, Patel Engineering -Simplex Infrastructures, JSW Energy, CESC and Soma will bid for the projects.
An empowered committee, which deals with tariff-based competitive bidding for transmission projects at interstate level, has recommended that the five transmission schemes be taken up through tariff-based competitive bidding route.
