In order to grab a bigger share of the Indian roads and beat its competitor leader Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor is planning to introduce a full range of Electric Vehicles (EV). This will be in addition to introducing the globally successful Kona SUV by importing CKD packs to India by the second half of 2019. After the assembly of Kona EV, Hyundai will be exploring on the manufacturing compact SUVs and sedan electric vehicles in India. This may also give the South Korean auto major a chance to come out with alternatives to participate in the state-run Energy Efficient Services (EESL) contract in the future.
