Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA) has incorporated the latest state-of-the-art technology to expand electricity generation at its Odisha plant. The company has installed 800 A capacity High Tension Low Sag (HTLS) conductors at the plant in place of 550 A capacity conductor which will enable the company to generate 50 MW of additional power to its existing 110 MW. HTLS has huge carrying capacity and does not sag due to temperature and flow of current. IMFA has reduced the transmission losses to minimal by replacing the conductor and enhancing the power carrying capacity of existing transmission lines. The earlier power supplied through 132 KV ICCL Grid-Choudwar Grid line of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd was not adequate to handle the power flow due to enhanced capacity of the CGP of IMFA at Choudwar.
