Solar lamps have been installed at the Ludhiana railway station. The solar LED lights have been put up at three spots at the railway station back gate (towards Guru Nanak Stadium) near the police security post and at places at Railways Hospital just near the back gate. RK Sharma, Station Superintendent, Ludhiana Railway Station, said, that these lights have been installed on experimental basis.
But more such lights will be installed. The purpose of installing these lights is that when there is a power cut these will continue to illuminate the station. He added that solar power is clean source of energy. Meanwhile, residents, who frequently visit the railway station to travel by train, appreciated the move of the railway authorities.
