Maharashtra, which is currently facing a power-crunch, may be free from load-shedding by December 2012, says Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (Mahadiscom). However, the state may depend on power purchase from short-term contracts and electricity exchange to meet its peak hour demands.
According to a senior energy department official, average peak demand in December 2012 is expected to be 14,924 mw, while availability would be around 13,245 mw. The demand-supply gap is being met through short-term power purchase and the power exchange, the official said.
