Wind power producer Mytrah Energy (India), which has a generating capacity of 310 MW, will add another 240 MW of wind energy capacity going forward. As part of this plan, the firm reportedly is in the process of setting up a 100 MW wind farm near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and expect it to be ready by September. For the planned 240 MW projects, the firm may source wind turbines from Spanish firm Gamesa, and Chennai-based Regen Powertech, a deviation from the past practice of depending only on Suzlon Energy. The Coimbatore project may use Regen Powertech's machines. The firm mainly focuses on wind power projects in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka (100 mw) and Andhra Pradesh (40 MW). Although he cited that evacuation of power was a problem in Tamil Nadu, he informed that the proposed project in Coimbatore may not face the issue. Pointing to other issues in the wind energy sector, he said in Karnataka getting forest and environment clearance for projects is difficult. In Maharashtra and Rajasthan, getting 'right of way' for access to wind farms was proving to be extremely difficult, he said. In general, land acquisition and getting right of way are fraught with problems, with a lot of interference from local politicians, he said.
