In Odisha, the proposed roof top solar photovoltaic power project, popularly known as Green Power Project, in the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will finance the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an arm of the World Bank.
The Odisha government, keeping in view the impending shortfall in conventional power generating sources and the growing demand of energy in both these fast-growing cities, is all set to give a final shape to the Roof Top Solar Photovoltaic Power Project. Sources in the State Department of Energy (DoE) said that there would be a 5-megawatt green power project and the job would be taken up by the proposed Odisha Green Energy Corporation Limited (OGECL), a 100-per-cent subsidiary of the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC).
While the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) under the Department of Science & Technology (DoST) is looking after the solar power projects, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the DoE to scale up green power production under the auspices of the OHPC, which is in any case a green energy producer.
