The Government of Uttar Pradesh is going great guns about generating power through renewable sources. The state government is likely to enter into agreements amounting to Rs 2,300 crore for setting up solar power plants. New and renewable Energy Development Authority (NEDA) of Uttar Pradesh is about to sign an MoU with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for setting up a 100 MW solar power plant in Jalaun. As per the proposed arrangements, NHPC will be required to set up a JVC with NEDA within three months. NEDA will provide the land and contribute in terms of equity, while NHPC will be responsible for power generation.
The government will also sign pre-purchase agreement shortly with seven power producers targeting 130 MW power generation. The tariff bid is in the range of Rs 8.01 to Rs 9.33 per unit, the state government will also, as part of the power purchase agreement sign up to purchase power for 12 years.
