Bhutan has allocated four projects to NHPC, SJVN and THDC for implementation in joint ventures with Bhutan´s state-owned companies. Indian banks and financial institutions are expected to finance these projects. Projects in hydro-resource-rich Bhutan are expected to help the Indian PSUs maintain growth momentum. Kholongchhu (600 MW) and Wangchhu (570 MW) projects have been allocated to SJVN while NHPC and THDC have got Chamkharchhu (770 MW)and Wangchu (180 MW), respectively. As per an agreement signed with Bhutan in 2006, India has to develop 10,000 MW in the neighbouring country.
