Suzlon Group-subsidiary, REpower Systems, announced cumulative orders of approximately 276 MW across Europe over a two-month period, excluding orders announced separately. These cover orders were secured between 11 February 2012 and 15 April 2012 across Italy, France, Germany, Poland and UK. Andreas Nauen, CEO, REpower Systems SE, said, “These orders highlight our competitive positioning across highly competitive European wind markets.”Meanwhile, the company also announced its largest order to-date in Poland with the 39 MW Nowy Staw project, near the city of Gdansk, which has the potential to generate enough power to meet the needs of over 50,000 homes every year.Professor Fritz Vahrenholt, CEO, RWE Innogy said, “All in all, Innogy plans to have around 300 MW in operation in Poland by 2015.”In a related development, the Republic of South Africa’s Minister for Energy, Dipuo Peters, announced her Department’s selection of the 138 MW AmakhalaEmoyeni Phase 1 wind energy project to be carried out in Eastern Cape by the Suzlon Group. The project was submitted by Cennergi under the second window of the Request for Bids for the Independent Power Producers Programme. Silas Zimu, CEO, Suzlon South Africa, added, “The project is the largest of the awarded wind projects during the bid.” Project construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2013. In another development, the Jaisalmer wind park, being developed by the Suzlon Group crossed 1,000 MW of installed capacity at the end of FY12, reaching 1,064 MW. This achievement makes the wind park the largest of its kind in India.
