Adani Powers generation capacity increases to 8,620 MW

Adani Power has said its overall generation capacity has increased to 8,620 MW, making it the country´s ´largest private power producer´. The utility recently commissioned the fourth unit, having 660 MW capacity, at its Tiroda plant in Maharashtra. ´Adani Power has added 2,640 MW in the last financial year, accounting for nearly 15 per cent of the overall capacity addition of about 17,000 MW in the country,´ the company said.

Adani Power's Tiroda plant is forced to keep its 660 mw Unit 1 off line as its client MSEDCL does not need the power. Moreover, Mahatransco does not have capacity to transmit the entire quantum. However, Maharashtra is one of the few states that enjoys this luxury of surplus power. The reason is MSEDCL's ability to pay the generators in spite of its unsatisfactory financial condition.

Adani Power to start 3rd unit in Maha's Tiroda shortly

Adani Power Maharashtra, which has synchronised its two units at Tiroda in Gondia district, is all set to commission its third unit later this month, a senior company official has said. The power plant in Gondia had ran into trouble when the coal block allotted to them in Lohara near Tadoba forest was cancelled since it was located in deep forest in eco sensitive zone.
