Punjab govt yet to pay Rs 7,700 crore subsidy bill to PSPCL
Punjab government has not paid monthly installments to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). The pending power subsidy bill continues to accumulate, despite the state government planning to introduce a direct-bank transfer (DBT) scheme for power subsidies on agricultural connections.

Metros slow to switch on the sun| Greenpeace
Despite policies and net metering guidelines in several states, a subsidy of 30 per cent offered by the MNRE, the installation of solar rooftop systems has been dismal in leading metros in the country, especially in Chennai and Mumbai, says a Greenpeace India analysis, titled ‘Indian cities slacking on rooftop solar’.

Rs.90,841 cr invested in renewable energy
An investment of Rs.90,841.16 crore has been made in the renewable energy sector in the country during three fiscals to 2015-16, government said. Total investment made in renewable energy sector in all states, including Jharkhand and Gujarat, during the last three years is Rs.90,841.16 crore, New And Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

Plea to review the Centre's subsidy on solar pumps
Under the Off-grid and Decentralised Solar Applications Programme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been extending a subsidy of 30 per cent of the cost of solar water pumping system limited to Rs 57,000 per kWp having module capacity upto 5 kWp for irrigation and other purposes.
