7,500 MW of solar parks planned in Ladakh
The J&K government has signed an MoU with the Centre for the development of two mega solar parks in the rocky mountainous region of Ladakh with a total capacity of 7,500 MW. The government has proposed development of one each Mega Solar Park in the districts of Leh and Kargil, according to Sajjad Gani Lone, State Minister for Science & Technology.
India eyes four solar power plants of 1000 MW each
The government is aggressively accelerating the solar energy programme and aiming for 4 giant plants of 1,000 MW each. It also wants to bundle solar and conventional power to make renewable energy more affordable. Giant solar projects may be put up quickly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as the new government is keen to promote this source of renewable energy.
WAAREE Energies to foray into Leh
WAAREE Energies, one of the most diversified players in the Indian solar sector, is installing a 25,000-LPD capacity solar water heater for Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency at Leh, Ladakh. With this project, the company is penetrating the solar thermal market with installations at areas with challenging topography depicting its wide reach and also contributing to reduce carbon emissions in the environment, it said in a statement.
