Good monsoon A mixed blessing
After enduring two consecutive years of drought, the monsoon in India has been recorded as ´normal´ in 2016, at just 3 per cent below the long term average. The monsoon, which spans from June to September, is said to be normal when rainfall is between 96-104 per cent of the long term (50 year) average of about 88 centimetres
VPT plans another 5 MW solar plant
Following through on its green commitments, the Visakhapatnam Port Trust is all set to install another 5 MW solar power plant in its premises. ´Tenders for the project to be commissioned in the next fiscal will be out soon.
Greenko to buy SunEdison
The sun is finally setting on SunEdison in India. The US company that started the solar power frenzy around the world and especially in India with super high growth projections and super low tariff bids for new projects before it went belly up earlier this year and filed for bankruptcy, is all set to sell its entire Indian portfolio to Greenko, said multiple sources aware of the development.
The power sector looking at investments worth Rs.15,000 lakh crore over the next five years, and cables and wires - which are the main ingredient to enable this development - will witness a huge growth trajectory.
