Step in the right direction
While Green Energy Corridor may enhance transmission grid to a greater extent, the evacuation issues faced by the renewable energy segment may not get fully resolved in the near future.
Remove Pitfalls on Way to Targets
Despite the Centre's thrust to renewable energy, state governments are not an active party to the renewable energy wave. If the Centre and states collaborate, things would be easier for achieving targets.
Cloud over Solar Power
India, with more than 14,000 MW of installed solar power capacity, is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. In September 2017, the country crossed 60,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, which includes mainly wind and solar energy.
Solar has many unique attributes which make it a preferred source of power, particularly in India, a densely populated country with a high energy deficit - where it can be rapidly deployed across most parts of the country, due to its modular nature and by virtue of it being environment friendly.
Own a Powerhouse
The prime minister´s enormous ambition of installing 100 GW (or 100,000 MW) of solar power plants by 2022, in seven years straight, up from just 4 GW today, has set the momentum for solar power generation in India.
At Rs.6-7/kWh, user benefits without any investment
Solar power is now available at Rs 5 or Rs 6, having come down significantly. But it all depends on how all the logistics are developed around that and ultimately how effectively the benefits are passed on to the consumer.
