Schneider Electric India announced that it has powered more than 2 GW of solar capacity in India through its inverters, transformers and other medium voltage equipment and expects to achieve 2.5 GW (including 500 MW solar) by March 2017. This means that of the country's cumulative solar capacity of 10 GW, 20 per cent is flowing through Schneider Electric’s equipment. Schneider Electric Solar’s presence in the sector has grown over 50 per cent in the last one year. Anurag Garg, Vice-President, Solar Business said, “We are on the verge of contributing 25 per cent of the total installed solar capacity in India. Our share as well as contribution to India’s solar sector is only going to increase given the rapid growth witnessed by the sector on the back of the 100-GW target to be achieved by 2022.”
