Sanjay Agarwal, IAS (1984 Batch) is B.Tech and M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur.
He joined the IAS UP cadre on August 21, 1984 and started his career as Asstt. Magistrate, Allahabad.
He became CDO of Meerut from July, 1988 to May, 1990. He has held the post of Joint Secretary in Govt. of UP from September, 1990 to July, 1993.
He was given responsibility of district administration of various districts as Magistrate and Collector of Basti, Shahjahanpur, Mirzapur, Meerut and Lucknow between 1993-2001. He was assigned the important and responsible job of Secretary to Chief Minister, Govt. of UP from May, 2001 to March, 2002. Thereafter, he became Managing Director of UPSRTC upto January 2005.
He went on deputation to the Government of India as Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textile, New Delhi from January, 2005 to August, 2010.
Presently, Agarwal holds charge as Principal Secretary, Department of Energy, Government of UP and Chairman, UPPTCL.
