Cabinet clears proposal to ink mining lease pact
The cabinet of Goa government cleared a proposal to enter into mining lease agreement for projects which comply with all regulations.
The approval would enable the state government to sign
mining leases, which after government scrutiny, have been found to be complying with all norms.
Around 25 to 30 mining leases are said to have paid the stamp duty to the government.
But these mines cannot begin operation after signing of mining leases as the Supreme Court has to remove the mining ban. After the apex court lifts the ban, the mining leaseholders must secure all clearances like environmental clearance, certification from the India bureau of mines, etc.
With the signing of the leases, the said mines would be taken off from the state's list of banned mines.
Meanwhile, the government is scrutinizing other mines also for violation of statutory norms.
