Gearing up to revamp Power infrastructure in Bihar
The Government of Bihar has sanctioned more than Rs 2,000 crore for renovation of the existing power infrastructure in the state. The funding for strengthening the power infrastructure would come from various centrally sponsored schemes such as Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF), Rajeev Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) and Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (APDRP). Besides funding is expected from various other multilateral organisations and state's own plans.
According to the first supplementary budget, the state government also plans to spend Rs 150 crore on generation. South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd is set to receive more than Rs 800 crore in the current fiscal. The allotted funds would be spent in strengthening the distribution network in southern part of the state.The North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd is likely to get Rs 500 crore in the current fiscal. For improving transmission lines, the state government has allotted Rs 500 crore for improving transmission lines.
