Swedish district energy specialists Mittel launches new welding machine for super durable pipe joints
Swedish district energy infrastructure specialist, Mittel, announced the launch of a new version of its ground-breaking welding machine Mittel TSC which has the ability to make the joints of district energy pipes as strong and durable as pipes. The new machine can handle pipes up to 2,000 mm which is ideal for the new district cooling markets in e.g., the Middle East. The joints will last as long as the pipes and no shutdown is needed. The joints are normally the weakest link of the district energy systems due to exposure to moisture, abrasion and pressure often with very expensive energy losses and repair needed as a result. The new features are:
- The machine is insensitive to voltage fluctuations and thus more reliable.
- It now logs the weld position since it is equipped with GPS.
- The log files can be sent to a computer via Bluetooth.
David Appelblad, Project Manager, Mittel, said, “The fact that we can now handle two metre big joints gives us a real competitive advantage in the rapidly-growing market for district cooling in the Middle East and India. From a very strong position in the Nordic countries, Mittel is now aiming for more exports.
