ABB wins Rs.4,350 crore mega deal

In a partnership with state grid operator Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (Powergrid) in a mega project worth over Rs.4,350 crore, ABB is set to deliver a transmission link that will have the capacity of 6,000 MW - the equivalent of more than six large power plants - to bring electricity to more than 80 million people. The 800 kV UHVDC system will connect Raigarh in Central India to Pugalur in Tamil Nadu, covering 1,830 km - making it one of the longest transmission links in the world. The two-way link will integrate thermal and wind energy for transmission of power to high consumption centres located distances away.
