Lloyd's Register is first, third-party inspection agency to become IBR-approved inspecting authority
Lloyd's Register (LR) is the first, third-party inspection agency to become an Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) approved inspecting authority and is now authorised by the Indian Central Boilers Board to carry out inspections in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
TSG Narayannen, Technical Adviser, Boilers & Secretary, Central Boilers Board, India, awarded the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) certificate to Lloyd's Register Group Director Operations, Paul Huber and LR's Regional Director, John Rowley at a recently-held ceremony in Mumbai.
In his address, Narayannen said that LR is well known for its inspection globally. He said, "We wanted an organisation that not only had expertise but who were meticulous and very stringent in their inspection, as the boiler field relies on safety and is an area where there can be no compromises."
K Swaminathan, Area Manager, South West Asia, LR, said, "The Indian industry is welcome to change and ultimately, quality of work is what they look for. LR can deliver this. This is not an alternative to IBR or CBB, but just a helping hand."
