JK's 7 hydel projects of 1,036 mw put on EPC mode

In Jammu and Kashmir, seven hydel power projects, with a combined installed capacity of 1,036 mw, have been put on the public-private partnership route in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.

The State government on January 2 said that the financial closure of Baglihar Hydro-electric Power company's 450 mw Phase-II has been achieved, an official spokesman said in Jammu.

The tendering process of 93-mw New Ganderbal, 48-mw Kalnai and 390 mw Karthai has been initiated by State Power Development Corporation, he said.

During the year, three projects under joint venture company with total capacity of 2,120 mw in Chenab Basin have been tendered out, he said, adding that Pakuldul with 1,000 mw capacity under IPP mode and up-gradation of Ratle HEP from 690 mw to 850 mw have been sanctioned. The State government has extended Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Project to 283 towns at an estimated cost of Rs 1,245.38 crore, he said.

About a dozen of grid stations have been completed and commissioned during 2012, while some are being completed by this fiscal end, he said, adding that re-bundling of power distribution and transmission system has been approved.
