India, Finland to cooperate in RE energy, especially biomass
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in his interaction with Lehtomaki, Minister of Environment of Finland, stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries in renewable energy segment. There exist tremendous scope for understanding and exchanges, especially bio-fuels, waste to energy and in sustainable development. India and Finland already have an on-going mechanism of cooperation in renewable energy under the aegis of the joint working group on clean technology and waste management. About 20 per cent of its total energy is derived from renewable energy sources, mostly from biomass and waste.
