Balance of Plant – imperative

By the end of 2011, the installed power generation capacity went up to 170,228 MW. In view of the government’s ambitious capacity addition targets, the demand for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and Balance of Plant (BOP) contractors will increase manifold. A major reason for delays in completion of power projects is primarily due to the fact that we have lesser Balance of Plant (BoP) players who can do the job within the stipulated time and cost.

So what factors hamper the timely completion of power projects, what are the challenges involved and to what extent can BOP operations improve the company’s bottom-lines? Read on…
