Tata Power's Maithon project unit 1 achieves full load
Tata Power announced the successful achievement of full load generation of the 525 MW - Unit 1 at the Maithon power plant in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Full load generation was achieved after the successful synchronisation of the unit under the requisite standard requirements. Maithon Power (MPL), the 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation announced that it is implementing a 2x525 MW coal-fired power project power in Jharkhand. MPL is the first successful public-private partnership in greenfield generation project in the country.
On the occasion, Anil Sardana, MD, Tata Power, said, "The achievement of full load capacity at Unit 1 of Maithon on coal is a significant milestone." MPL has firmed up fuel supplies from Coal India and its subsidiaries. A fuel supply agreement (FSA) has been signed with Bharat Coking Coal for supply of coal for the project. The project has received all the statutory clearances including environment clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). The power purchase agreements (PPA) have been signed and power evacuation arrangements have been put in place by PowerGrid Corporation.
