NTPC to add 1,600 MW by March next
The 2,600 MWs National Thermal Power Corporation Limited in Ramagundam is all set to expand its power station by adding two more power generating units of 800 MW each during this financial year 2015-16.
Talking to newsmen, RK Srivatsava, executive director, NTPC Ramagundam said that the environmental study assessment done by their agency would be submitted to the Telangana State Pollution Control Board and the Union Government. ´The 1,600 MW project site and everything else is ready and only awaiting the state government´s nod for allocation of land for the ash pond in the vicinity. Once this land is allocated, the company would go for the public hearing for the proposed two 800 MWs power plants,´he stated.
Coal linkage for the proposed power plant is being done with Singareni Collieries Company Limited and 70 per cent of coal being used is from Singareni,while remaining will be imported from other agencies in India and abroad.
