KKNPP´s power production reaches peak
Power production at Unit-I of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) has reached its full capacity of 1,000 MW. Power generation at the plant had been marred by breakdowns in the recent past, including one as recently as February 4, when the unit was shut down following a steam leak in the feed water system in the turbine building.
However, commercial production resumed on February 22 and has been progressing steadily. The plant houses two units with 1,000 MW power production capacity and preparations to get units III and IV up and running have already commenced. The fuel loading process in the second unit is expected to commence towards the end of April.
