Income-Tax office taps solar energy, sets up 15 kW unit
Setting a role model for other office complexes at a time when the country is staring at an acute power crisis, the Income Tax office at Vidyanagar has set up a 15-kW solar power unit that is expected to provide a major relief from rising power bills. The Rs. 15-lakh solar plant at the IT office at Vidyanagar will be switched on by Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Kerala circle) PR Ravikumar. It can generate 57 units of power a day, meant for consumption by the local office. The surplus can be exchanged with the Kerala State Electricity Board.
