Shyam Group, Gamesa tie-up for 100 MW of wind capacity

According to reports, the Rs 3,500 crore Shyam Group, has joined hands with Gamesa of Spain, to foray into non-conventional energy and set up wind power projects in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu with a total initial capacity of 100 MW. The company said that it has drawn up a plan to make in roads in to hydel and non-conventional power across the country and will put up about Rs 900 crore by 2016-17. Of this, nearly Rs 500 crore will be pumped into the first three wind power projects which will be completed by 2014-15. The first phase of the Maharashtra wind power project will be commissioned in March 2012. The company is already in an advanced stage of construction and commissioning of the 6 MW hydel power project in Darjeeling. It is also putting up an 8 MW biomass-based power plant in Burdwan, which is the largest of its kind in the state.
