SKF Expedites Overseas Operations
SKF will supply magnetic bearings to two new major gas projects in Australia. SKF magnetic bearings will equip the natural gas treatment turbo expanders for the Ichthys Gas Field project and SKF oil-free, frictionless active magnetic bearings will be used at the Prelude FLNG barge. SKF Supergrip bolts, widely used in North America and Europe to help to drive uptime, availability and profitability in power generation, can also benefit Chinese energy industries. These bolts significantly reduce turbine coupling dismounting /mounting time and costs. After long service, conventional fitted coupling bolts can seize, making removal difficult and dangerous. To free the bolts requires man hours and lost power generation, while reassembly can involve hours of fitting bolts, honing holes and 'mauling' bolts into place with a sledgehammer.
