J'khand okays NTPC resettlement plan for H'bagh PAPs

The government of Jharkhand on February 18 approved the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package of the National Thermal Power Corporation for project affected persons (PAPs) in Hazaribagh district. The R&R of the NTPC, approved by the Advisory Council to Governor Syed Ahmed, would cover 8,330 project affected persons at Pakri-Barwadih Coal Mining area of the district, Cabinet Coordination Department's Principal Secretary NN Pandey said in Ranchi.

As per the NTPC policy, a person having lost less than one acre to the project would get Rs 30,000 per year and the person having lost more than one acre of land would receive Rs 36,000 per annum. The annuity would continue for thirty years, Pandey said. Those having lost houses would be helped in construction by the NTPC, besides those with cattle would get a cattle shed costing Rs 3,500.

Apart from these, the beneficiaries would also get the best parts of the NTPC and the existing Jharkhand R&R - whichever point is the better, the official said.
