UP CM promises better power supply
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on June 9 emphasised once again that looking into power shortage in the state was top priority of the Uttar Pradesh government and at the same time justified the recent hike in power tariff. He attributed the hike to heavy losses in the power sector caused by mismanagement during the previous Bahujan Samaj Party rule.
He expressed hope of a marked improvement in the power situation in the near future once unit number one of Parichha power plant gets operational in July. About talks of subsidy to power companies, he said the State government was working seriously towards a permanent solution for power crisis and some important steps will be required.
