Highlights

In October 1992, the corporationĀ“s name was changed to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, as we know of it today.
  • Examples of Power Grid-owned stations include the Vizag back to back HVDC converter station, the Chandrapur back to back HVDC converter station, the India Sri Lanka HVDC Interconnection, and the Talcher-Kolar HVDC system.
  • Initially, Power Grid managed transmission assets owned by NTPC, NHPC and North-Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited.
