March coal imports increase 42% month-on-month

According to data released by Indian ship broker Interocean, India imported around 14.9 million tonnes (mt) of coal at 21 major ports in March, up 41.7 per cent from February. The March imports included 11.3 mt of thermal coal, up 35.9 per cent from February, and 3.6 mt of coking coal, up 63.4 per cent. Mundra port received the highest coal shipments at 3.7 mt, up 56.9 per cent from February. It also received the highest steam coal shipments at 11.3 mt, up 36 per cent from February.
